The HKU-CDS Shanghai Teaching and Research Site is located in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Shanghai, surrounded by a vibrant ecosystem of technology companies. The building construction was completed in April 2025, the sports facilities will be ready in early 2026.

About the School of Computing and Data Science (CDS)
To meet the growing importance of computing and AI literacy in the 21st century, HKU recognises the need to equip students with the necessary skills to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world. The newly established School of Computing and Data Science (CDS) at the University of Hong Kong encompasses the existing Department of Computer Science and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. We have about 60 renowned scientists and 800 postgraduate students and offer 15 academic programmes.
Undergraduate Research Internship
In the summer of 2025, HKU School of Computing and Data Science will launch a Research Internship Programme accepting around 50 outstanding Computer Science, and Statistics and Actuarial Science undergraduate students from Mainland China or other overseas countries. This programme aims to provide student interns with an opportunity to learn about our research postgraduate programme and engage in research. The tentative period of this programme is from July 13 to August 31, 2025.

CDS launches a groundbreaking new course, SCDS1001 Artificial Intelligence Literacy I, designed to empower all HKU undergraduate students with essential AI knowledge and skills.
